Ugo Basile projetou o RotaRod original , o primeiro Rota Rod industrial há quase 50 anos, baseado no artigo de 1957 de NW Dunham e TS Miya. O 47650 Rota-Rod NG (Next Generation) , é uma evolução do modelo original e o resultado de muitos anos de pesquisa em cooperação com o mais recente desenvolvimento em pesquisa comportamental e farmacológica.
Desde então, nossos modelos foram citados em milhares de artigos científicos . O nome que cunhamos logo se tornou tão popular, agora todo mundo conhece esse dispositivo como RotaRod!
O que há de novo no modelo NG :
Fisicamente semelhante às versões anteriores, oferece a mesma confiabilidade, combinada com tecnologia inovadora! O novo modelo apresenta caixas de viagem em aço inoxidável para facilitar a limpeza e confinar os animais quando eles caem da haste.
O rato RotaRod consiste em cinco 3cm de diâmetro. cilindros, que são usinados adequadamente para fornecer aderência. Seis 25cm de diâmetro os divisores fazem cinco pistas, cada uma com 5,7 cm de largura, permitindo que cinco camundongos permaneçam no rotor simultaneamente. A altura a cair é de 16 cm.
Um novo software, fácil de usar, está incluído como padrão; Através do novo software, o operador pode organizar facilmente o experimento em seu PC e enviá-lo para o Rota-Rod através da chave USB. O software classifica automaticamente os dados, combinando as configurações com os resultados dos testes; o usuário pode adicionar informações antes ou depois do teste. Os resultados aparecem em uma estrutura semelhante a uma árvore, onde as colunas podem ser arrastadas e soltas para personalizar o layout. Configurações e dados são exportados como relatórios de texto, Excel ou PDF e podem ser salvos na nuvem via DropBox, OneDrive, GoogleDrive.
O experimento pode ser ajustado e os resultados podem ser monitorados, também através da tela sensível ao toque de 4 ”3.

O Rota-Rod é o teste de referência para triagem de drogas potencialmente ativas, ou com efeitos colaterais, na coordenação motora.
Quando um rato cai da sua seção do cilindro na caixa de desarme abaixo, as caixas de placas e o interruptor magnético correspondente são ativados, registrando assim o tempo de resistência do animal em segundos.
O visor mostra a velocidade real angular (RPM). No final de uma corrida, o visor mostra para cada animal o tempo de execução, o modo de rotação e a velocidade de rotação no momento em que o animal caiu, combinados com informações predefinidas pelo usuário.
